3 Productivity Tips

Hi Everyone,

If you can complete more meaningful tasks in less time and have more time for yourself, you become productive.

I have read a few productivity concepts and below are a few that have helped me.

It might help you as well.

2-Minute Rule

It is a productivity strategy to avoid procrastination and complete small tasks introduced by David Allen in his book Getting Things Done.

The more work you complete, the happier you become.

Below are a few ways you can use this rule to complete small daily tasks.

  1. Washing the dishes right after finishing the meal
  2. Watering all the indoor plants at once
  3. Responding to a work email if it does not require deep analysis
  4. Folding the clean clothes daily and not dumping them for the weekend

1-3-5 Rule

It is a time management strategy to help you increase your daily productivity.

In his book, 4-Hour Work Week, Tim Ferriss shows that you can double productivity with the help of planning and organizing.

On a single day, don't aim to complete all the tasks that come your way.

Identify one big task, three medium tasks, and five small tasks daily. Then, you can allocate your time and energy according to their priority.

A few ways it helps you are -

  1. It helps to spend less energy on work that will give fewer benefits.
  2. It improves your motivation.
  3. The daily accomplishment list becomes better.

5 seconds rule

It is a productivity concept introduced by Mel Robbins in her book ‘The 5 Seconds Rule’.

If you have to start or complete unpleasant work, count backward from 5 and then push yourself mentally to start the work.

Below are a few ways you can use it.

  • Calling that difficult customer
  • Talking to your colleague about your opinion
  • Going to gym

By counting backward, you bring the momentum to your side. It increases the impulse to do the work before you think about the obstacles and excuses.

Thanks for reading.
