5 Lessons on Writing and Life

Published 11 months ago • 2 min read

Welcome to my newsletter!

How are you?

How is your writing journey going on?

I will share mine.

I learned a few things last week on online writing and life in general.

A short form is better than no writing

I have realized that nowadays I am not getting any time to write a long-form article. To maintain my writing habit, I have started to write short-form articles. It does not take more than 15 minutes.

This way, I can show up online regularly and my writing does not take a lot of time also.

Publishing an ebook on Gumroad

I have published my first free ebook on Gumroad. In case you have not received it, click the link at the end of this newsletter to get your free copy.
What I learned is that publishing is one part and marketing the ebook is another game altogether.

How did I market it?

I put the link to the ebook in all the articles I posted on Medium and in my tweet post.

Well, these are in writing. What did life teach me in general?

Become your own best friend

We all want to be surrounded by loved ones. But sometimes life may put us in some situations where we do not have our loved ones by our side when we need them.

In this case, we become our own best friends.
How?
Learn some hobbies that fill your lonely time. I have started the below and these are quite interesting.
1. Cooking
2. Creative journalling
3. Doing embroidery

Benefit
When you are engaged in some work that fulfills you when you are alone, you do not get bored or sad.
Instead, it inspires you with many creative ideas.

Nothing is in your control

You may prepare yourself for the toughest situation possible. But you never know how the universe will hit you or a better way to say is to help you evolve.

So nothing is in our control. Your dream job may give you the toughest time. Your loved one can give you the toughest time. I am not sounding pessimist but such is life.

Trust your intuition

From our childhood, we are taught to trust the numbers and evidence but we are never taught to understand our intuition.

When we quieten our minds, we are able to listen to our intuition. When we learn to trust them, we live a life of paradise.

These are all my takeaways from life last week.

What did you learn?

Let me know.

I hope you have an amazing week ahead.

Thanks,
Ipshita
